In 2002, Axcel in partnership with a number of other investors and investment funds established the consortium Door Holding, which acquired the door company Vest-Wood. Three years later Vest-Wood was sold to American JELD-WEN. At the time of the buyout, Vest-Wood was Scandinavia's largest door producer. Via a number of acquisitions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Vest-Wood became the largest door producer in Europe and improved its profitability. Turnover also increased from DKK 2 billion to DKK 3.5 billion. The company sells its products to customers in more than 20 countries and employs over 4,000 people. Vest-Wood is now continuing its European expansion under JELD-WEN's ownership.
