After five years' ownership, Axcel sold Aalborg Industries to the private equity fund Altor. Under Axcel's ownership, the company's activities were concentrated on marine boiler plant solutions and their worldwide servicing. Among other things, the American subsidiary Erie, which produced boiler plants for power stations, was divested shortly after Axcel's buyout. This sharper focus has made a strong contribution to the leading market position achieved by the company. Turnover increased from approximately DKK 1 billion to DKK 1.5 billion under Axcel's ownership. The company is now owned by Alfa Laval.
